This version makes games run noticeably smoother with UGT Mod and gets translations on screen faster: the long pauses when translations arrive are gone, and so is the background work that caused regular stutters. Text that games reveal letter by letter, build from pieces or rewrite as you play is now recognised far more reliably, with far fewer false detections and far fewer fragments sent to the AI.
Speed and smoothness
Enhancements
- No more freeze when translations arrive. When a batch of translations came back, every text in the game was refreshed in a single frame, which could freeze a large game for several seconds. The refresh is now spread over several frames, in the time the game leaves free.
- No more regular stutter from searching the scene. On IL2CPP games, a search through every object in the game ran about once a second, looking for a kind of text the game does not have. It cost up to a third of a second each time. It no longer runs when the game has already answered that the text is absent.
- No more search for UI Toolkit on games that don't use it. On IL2CPP games, UGT Mod looked for UI Toolkit screens at every pass instead of being told when one appears.
- Faster translations while the AI is working. Texts already translated were redrawn every second while new answers came in. Only texts that actually changed are redrawn now.
- No pause on the first pattern translation. With many pattern translations in the file (lines with numbers in them), the first new one could stop the game for about a second.
- Less wasted work. A text given up for the session no longer goes back into the queue at every hover, font sizes are no longer written again on every pass, and a type of error that happened thousands of times per session on IL2CPP games is gone.
Text that appears, grows or is rebuilt
Enhancements
- Far fewer false detections of text revealed letter by letter. UGT Mod now decides from what the text does next — whether it goes on growing or stays — instead of guessing from its length. Short labels (one to three characters, very common in Chinese, Japanese and Korean) are no longer lost, and a reveal is no longer sent to the AI step by step.
- Logs and lists that grow line by line. When a game adds an entry to an event log, only the new lines are translated, instead of the whole log again at every event. Lines already translated are never sent again.
- Text built from pieces. A game that adds a part to a line it has already shown — including right-to-left text — is recognised, and a translation that arrives late is put back in place.
- Lines the game breaks itself. When a game wraps its own text, even over several separate lines, a translation that arrives late now follows the game's own line width. After a change of text size, the lines are broken again at the new size.
- Tooltips shown for a moment are translated. A tooltip replaced within half a second, because the pointer only swept over it, was dropped every time and stayed in the original language.
- Sentences revealed by moving a tag show their translation revealed the same way, even when the sentence is already known.
- A translation no longer grows by itself. When a translation began with its original text (for example "Text" → "Texte"), it could be read as the game adding letters, and show "Textee".
- What UGT Mod learns about a text is remembered. When an element shows the start of a longer line and then writes the rest, this is kept between launches in a local file next to the translation, instead of being learnt again every time.
New features
- Held texts in Translation Tools. The Failures tab lists the elements where the start of a longer line is held back, and lets you remove one if it is actually a complete text.
- Record text writes (Mod Options → General). Saves every text the game writes, and what UGT Mod shows instead, to a file that stays on your computer. Turn it on to report a text that shows wrong, and share the file.
Fonts and text size
Bug fixes
- Text no longer shrinks after reloading a save. On IL2CPP games, some texts were reduced twice from the second load of a save onwards, and stayed small until the game was restarted.
- A game putting its own font back no longer leaves tiny text. Some games set their font again on a text that already had the replacement font. The text then showed in the game's font at the size meant for the replacement, sometimes unreadable, until the next pass. The replacement is now put back at once.
- Texts whose translation is the same word get the right font and size. A text such as "Agriculture" in French only got the replacement font late, and at the wrong size.
AI translation
Enhancements
- Colours and styles are kept more reliably. The AI is told that tags come in pairs around words, an answer that empties a tag pair is sent back, and a tag pair around the whole line is kept out of what the AI sees and put back afterwards.
- Labels in brackets are explained to the model, before and after translation.
Bug fixes
- A line the AI server cannot handle is no longer asked again forever. Some texts make the model repeat itself until the server stops it with an error. Such a line was sent again at every appearance. It now goes to the Failures tab, where you can fix it by hand or ask the AI again. A server that is simply down does not put anything there.
Sync
Bug fixes
- The "lines to upload" notification shows at launch. It only appeared once the main panel had been opened, because UGT Mod asked the website before your account was ready.
UGT Mod window
Bug fixes
- Buttons stay in their window. A game menu reacting to the selected control could move UGT Mod's buttons out of their window.
Reports and diagnostics
Enhancements
- Problems are written to the log instead of being hidden. Several hundred places used to ignore an error silently. Each one now writes what went wrong, once, which makes bug reports much easier to act on.
Shared foundation
- The rules for colours and styles in AI answers are shared with UGT Manager's model tests, so a model scored there behaves the same in game.
