Fixes for alerts at start-up, outages, and failed updates.
Already on 3.0 or later? The app offers this update by itself within a day, or now from Settings → Updates → Check for updates.
New here? Download UnifiStockWatcher-Setup.exe (github.com) (installs for your Windows user, no admin prompt) or the portable UnifiStockWatcher-win64.zip (github.com). The app isn't code-signed, so Windows may say Windows protected your PC: More info → Run anyway.
Fixed
- No more alerts at every start for products that were already in stock. Each time the app started (with Windows, or after an update), it alerted again for everything in stock: a notification, a sound, a browser tab and your phone. Now a product alerts once each time it comes back, including when it came back while the app was closed.
- A product the store pulled for a while is watched again as soon as it's back. Before, one "not found" meant it wasn't checked again until the app restarted.
- When the store is down or refusing requests, the app says so once ("Can't reach the store" at the top), checks less often until it answers (up to every half hour), and says when it's back. Before, it looked like nothing had changed, and it asked for each product separately every minute.
- One oddly shaped product in the store's data no longer stops the whole check.
- A portable update that fails part-way now puts the previous version back properly. Before, a failure while copying could leave the app unable to start.
- Start with Windows stays pointed at your copy, even after you try a portable copy or another one starts.
- The history is no longer rewritten on every check, which cuts the app's disk writes by about a megabyte a minute once the history is full.
- With several alerts at once, they share one notification, which opens the window. Before, clicking the first one could open the second product.
- Stop, then Start straight away, works; touchpad scrolling is smooth; the window fits on screen at 150-200% scaling; "back ~tomorrow" uses your local date; the history CSV opens in Excel with € and £ intact; errors (like exporting to a file that's open in Excel) are shown instead of silently doing nothing.
- Descriptions and other faint text are easier to read in both themes.
