uniCenta oPOS version 2.40 June 2010 uniCenta oPOS uses the Apache Derby (default) embedded database for a single, local installation. The database is installed, by default, in the C:\Documents and Settings\yourprofielname\unicentaopos-database directory. uniCenta oPOS also supports multiple Point Of Sale terminals across a network. In this case you will need to install a multi-user database such Derby Network Server version, MySQL, Postgres or Oracle - (see uniCenta oPOS Installation and Administrator manuals). It is preferable that these databases are properly configured and running without issues before installing uniCenta oPOS to effect a smooth install. However, uniCenta oPOS can be easily configured to connect to an alternative database at a later stage. If you are upgrading from a previous version: Upgrading uniCenta oPOS is both simple and fast. The install, by default, is to C:\Program Files\unicentaopos-2.40 (this can be changed during install). Installing 2.40 over an existing installation should be trouble-free as it simply replaces/updates files such as the unicentaopos.jar (the executable), and adds/overwrites files in existing sub-folders (Bonus, lib, licensing,reports...) To ensure a successful upgrade - ensure uniCenta oPOS is not running. Any uniCenta oPOS Configuration changes made in a previous install, such as Skin, Tickets and etc will remain in place.
