Terminay 6.0.0 turns the workspace around folders and per-window connections, and adds program-set tab titles, server-owned notifications with PWA push, and a kernel-held data-root lock.
Workspace folders and windows
Folders
- Folders became part of the workspace model, with folder-scoped file services, folder launch, and a worktree reconciler that follows moved worktrees.
- The Folders tree draws each folder as a card showing its branch and facts, and cards can be reordered, collapsed to their titles, and dragged.
- Terminal rows gained a rename-in-place on double-click and the same context menu as their tabs.
- Checkouts are now marked dirty only for unpushed work, and unmerged branches are flagged.
Windows and connections
- Each desktop window now holds its own connection to a remote server, and the connection menu switches a window between servers.
- Projects stay in the window that opened them, and windows are titled by server and project, with empty windows titled Home.
- Windows open onto the server they last showed, and a window can leave a server it cannot reach.
Terminals, agents, and notifications
Terminal titles and activity
- Programs can set a tab's title with OSC 0 and OSC 2.
- Typing echo is no longer read as terminal work, and a second agent chat in the same terminal is now heard once the first finishes.
- Agent sidebar and left column tabs were reworked, and every open tab is listed.
Notifications
- Notifications are held by a server-owned manager and published after a settle period.
- Published notifications are pushed to paired devices, and phone-width layouts gained a Notifications bell and list.
- A terminal's notifications clear only when the user acts in that terminal.
Macros
- Macros are edited as a single script in a script editor, with categories and removable secrets.
Server, diagnostics, and performance
Data and control
- The data root is held by a kernel lock, so a killed server leaves nothing to clear, and a locked data root now gets a plain explanation instead of a stack trace.
- The MCP control socket moves to an owner-only runtime directory when the data directory path is too long for a Unix socket.
Diagnostics and performance
- Session holder lifecycle and close reasons are recorded in local diagnostics.
- Workspace changes travel as change records, so a change re-renders only the project or tab it touches.
Release and developer workflow
Release automation
- Release notes are generated as raw markdown from the latest Haiku output, without a code fence.
- The official container image gained passwordless sudo for the terminal user and a home volume in every run command.
Testing
- End-to-end failures now print the application's own diagnostics, the terminal's last lines, and the sidebar state.
- The browser-based layout test moved out of the unit job, and linked-folder end-to-end tests were stabilised.
