Terminay v1.10.0 adds the Terminay MCP server, allowing in-terminal AI agents to control sibling terminal tabs through a local Model Context Protocol surface.

Terminay MCP

  • Added a terminay mcp stdio server backed by the official MCP SDK.
  • Exposed terminal tools for listing, reading, opening, writing, running commands, closing, focusing, renaming, splitting, and waiting for terminal state.
  • Scoped control to the caller's own window/project through the local control surface.

Local Control Surface

  • Added a Unix-domain-socket control server in the Electron main process.
  • Injected per-terminal control socket and token environment variables into spawned shells.
  • Supported process ancestry fallback for MCP clients that do not forward inherited environment variables.

Installation And Settings

  • Added an Install Terminay MCP modal for Claude Code and Codex registration.
  • Added install, uninstall, and status helpers for supported agent config files.
  • Added a Settings AI toggle for allowing agents to control terminals.

Validation

  • Added protocol, control server, and MCP installer tests.
