SVCEval-RA is a simulation framework for rate-adaptive video transmission using the Scalable Video Coding standard (H.264/SVC). Our approach uses feedback information about the available bandwidth to allow the video source to select the most suitable combination of SVC layers for the transmission of the video sequence. The proposed solution has been integrated into the network simulator NS-2 in order to support realistic network simulations.
Features
- SVCEval-RA framework supports rate adaptive scalable video streaming
- SVCEVal-RA platform integrates mechanisms for available bandwidth estimation and network state feedback
- Simulation studies using adaptive SVC techniques can be performed in different network scenarios, such as DASH, TFRC (TCP-Friendly Rate Control) and MANETs (Mobile Ad-hoc NETworks),
- To perform video streaming simulations in MANETs, a QoS routing protocol (AQA-AODV, Adaptive QoS-Aware for Ad hoc On-demand Distance Vector) has been integrated in the simulation framework
- SVCEval-RA supports SVC-encoded video flows with quality and temporal scalability
