Pinguin

Pinguin pings selected computers on a regular basis to see if they're responding on the network. If the status of a computer changes, Pinguin will send an alert via Snarl.

Commands

  • -h Host name of where to send notifications (default is 127.0.0.1)
  • -m List of hostnames or IP addresses to monitor
  • -p Port number of where to send notifications (default is 31000)
  • -q Enables quiet mode
  • -t Manually sets the tolerance value (in seconds)
  • -u Update (save) the current configuration

Other options

  • --about Explains a bit more about Pinguin
  • --version Displays version details

Notes

  • Any host names supplied in the -m option are merged with those in the settings file
