Short Conserved Polypeptide Sequences
This project collects source code of applications based on the notion that polypeptides with similar structure and function have a high number of identical or closely related short sequences.
These sequence motifs may be conserved because they are located in the active site of an enzyme, in structurally important regions or in regions involved in binding to other proteins.
Hence, short, conserved polypeptide sequences can be identified and used to understand the structure and function of proteins.
