SharpEmu is a free, open-source PlayStation 5 emulator designed to bring PS5 emulation to Windows and Linux computers. Built from scratch in C#, the project focuses on accurately recreating the PS5's system architecture, CPU execution, and graphics functionality. SharpEmu can load executable files from real PS5 games, execute native CPU instructions, and handle certain GPU operations through the Vulkan graphics API. The emulator has been tested with games such as Demon's Souls Remake, ASTRO BOT, Gran Turismo 7, and ASTRO's PLAYROOM, although compatibility and performance remain limited. Users can launch games through a graphical interface or command-line tools, configure environment variables, and apply supported game patches. While SharpEmu is still experimental and not yet suitable for reliably playing most PS5 games, it offers developers, researchers, and emulation enthusiasts an open-source platform for exploring PlayStation 5 emulation.
