Hi,
I run Win7 Ent. x64 and Off2010 Prof. 2010 32-bit I downloaded and installed both the 32 and 64 bit versions of 7-zip It seems I find myself in a catch-22 situation:
- context menu's seem to require I install the 64-bit version of 7-Zip https://sourceforge.net/projects/sevenzip/forums/forum/45797/topic/3848122
- using the context menu 7-Zip->Compress to ".7z" and email seems to require I install the 32-bit version of 7-zip http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/outlook/thread/605056ed-9e58-4920-9e0b-2a68180652f8/
Can someone point me into the direction to escape this catch-22?
Thanks in advance, Wim.
This is a perfect catch 22.
No context menus in 32bit 7zip.
And no ability to detect a 32bit mail client by the 64bit zip application.
The question is: Which is easier to fix??? Context menus in the 32bit 7zip? …or the mail client detection by the 64bit 7zip?
Either way, 7zip is broken. And I can't find a suitable replacement. This app used to be king as far as I was concerned.
Theoretically, 7z should detect a 64bit email client.
I agree it's broken. Most programs ship with a 32-bit shim DLL to tackle this 32/64 bit problem.
I think I may have found where it's falling over - see my last post on https://sourceforge.net/projects/sevenzip/forums/forum/45797/topic/4042706/index/page/1
