The big new feature in this release is a proper 🌑 dark mode theme 🌚, which you can select in the settings screen.
There are a few other improvements, mostly platform things on Android & iOS.
Highlights from this release
- A brand new 🌑 dark mode theme 🌚! Choose it in Settings → Appearance
- Switching themes takes effect instantly without restarting Robrix, and is remembered across restarting the app
- Coming soon: more themes, auto-switching based on system theme, etc
- Android: resizing the screen, doing split-screen, or opening/closing a folding phone now seamlessly works without losing any app context
- iOS 27: fixed a rare/unusual crash when tapping a text input
- Rotating your phone keeps your scroll position in the room locked to where it was
- Modals (dialog popups) have better layout and margins, especially on mobile devices
- Bug fix: scrolling the "View Event Source" modal now works on touch screens too

* Rotating your phone while you're scrolled up in a room no longer pulls you back down to the newest message. Rotating changes the screen's safe areas, like where the notch is, which makes Makepad re-apply every widget's style, and that turned the timeline's "follow the newest message" mode back on. Switching between the light and dark themes re-applies styles the same way, so it keeps your place too. Parts of the UI that only exist in the other layout (desktop or mobile) also pick up a new theme once you switch to that layout, and tooltips now take their colors from the theme instead of hardcoded ones. ([makepad#1315](https://github.com/makepad/makepad/pull/1315)) * Scrolling works properly when one scrollable area sits inside another, like the code in the View Source dialog. Each scroll gesture now stays with the innermost area that can scroll that way, even once it hits the end, so the area around it doesn't suddenly start moving partway through a gesture or from leftover momentum. On a touchscreen, dragging on something that only scrolls sideways can also scroll the page around it up and down, and when both can move, a drag keeps to the direction it started in, or moves both if you start diagonally. A touch drag over code also scrolls it now, instead of selecting text. ([makepad#1317](https://github.com/makepad/makepad/pull/1317)) * Android: Robrix no longer restarts when you fold or unfold your phone, enter or leave split-screen, or change system settings like dark mode, display size, font size, language, or wallpaper. Android recreates an app's activity whenever a setting changes that the app hasn't declared it can handle, and Makepad mistook the old activity going away for the app quitting, so Robrix started over from scratch, sometimes even showing a login error. Makepad (and Robrix) now declare all the settings changes they can handle in place, like a new display density. For the few changes that recreate the activity no matter what, like a new wallpaper, the running app now just moves over to the new activity. ([makepad#1318](https://github.com/makepad/makepad/pull/1318)) * iOS 27: fixed a crash that some people hit when tapping into a text box. While sliding the keyboard in, iOS 27 asks the predictive text bar's controller for its style without checking what kind of controller it is, and when the bar has lost its real controller, iOS wraps it in a generic one that doesn't know how to answer, which crashed the app. Makepad now teaches that generic controller to give the default answer, so iOS carries on as usual.
