Welcome to Foxy's RetroPie Consolizer Scripts!
----------------------------------------------
These script sets will take varioius RetroPie images or generic installations and "consolize" them to perform well on various console-stype RetroPie setups. Specific focus is given to specific handheld RaspberryPi based consoles, various console-themed Raspberry Pi cases, and projects where a RaspberryPi has been installed in a retro game console shell.
----------------------------------------------
Releases will be named with the following convention:
consolizer scripts for {platform} {Pi version} {image file} {release version}
platform = the specific platform that the script set supports, such as PiBoy DMG, Retro Dreamer G4A CM4, Generic game console, etc.
pi version = the specific Raspberry Pi supported, such as the Pi 4, Pi 3B, Pi 3B+, CM3, etc.
image file = the specific RetroPie image that is supported, such a VirtualMan 512GB or Generic RetroPie, etc.
release version = the version of the specific script set, such as v1.0, v0.9.4, etc.
----------------------------------------------
The current released Consolizer script sets are:
PiBoyDMG with a Raspberry Pi4 running VirtualMan's 512GB image
PiBoyDMG with a Raspberry Pi 3B / 3B+ running VirtualMan's 400GB image
----------------------------------------------
HowTo Use:
Specific instructions for each script set are included in the scripset ReadMe.txt file - please read this file for your specific use case before attempting to use the script set, as there are specific instructions unique to each platform. Being said, the general use case is:
- boot your RaspberryPi with the speific RetroPie image
- copy the script set to your USB flash drive
- plug your USB flash drive into your Raspberry Pi
- plug your USB keyboard into your RaspberryPi
- copy the script set to your home directory
- extract the script set
- execute the script set
Again, the above is how things work in general; read the ReadMe.txt before execution in order to get the specific execution steps for your target RaspberryPi image and platform.
These script sets are designed to work with no network required! The USB flash drive and USB keyboard are all you need to use the script sets to optimize your RetroPie image for your target distribution. Being said, you can use networking to copy the script set to your RaspberryPi and execute the scripts if you prefer. This is not documented in the ReadMe.txt, but it works well.
The script sets tweak and modify extensively the image in order to optimize the RetroPie experience on the specific platform you are running the script set on. As such, the script sets generally take between 1-2 hrs to complete. Be patient - it is worth it!
