get simple tools to remove empty directories

Very good application. For optimal performance some config options needs to be changed tho. I did these 2 config changes: - Set Pause between each delete process to 0ms - Set Delete mode to Delete directly After these 2 changes the deletion is super fast, before these it's super slow.

The UI is good and it works well for clearing some folders, but I'm finding a huge memory leak in Windows 10 Pro 20H2. Clearing a lot of folders got me to 30GB on file Explorer, then the graphics driver crashes and the PC runs out of memory. Also the file deletion is extremely slow. It seems to delete folders from the bottom of the tree one by one rather than the top of a tree which only contains empty folders. As a non-programmer, its way better than I could and I thank the author, do it dies needs some fixes to work well in Windows 10 I think. Thanks

In a small company you have to save money, but you also need to have BACKUPS and centralized common info. RED is very useful in controlling laptops, portable drives and cloud storage. It's amazing what problems OneDrive can cause if it's put on a laptop or portable disk for example. OneDrive DOCS today had 1873 EMPTY folders. RED managed to delete all unnecessary ones! If I had to do that manually, I think it would have taken a lot of time, and I've probably not found all confusing empty folders. Thanks a lot to hx74!

Very helpful, no need to bother removing it manually. With this all the empty folders are gone, clean and tidy!

Great easy to use tool. Pros: 1- Windows explorer context menu integration. 2- I am working on tens of thousands of folders moving large numbers of files around (scripting) and RED is being very handy each time cleaning up the mess of empty folders left by other tools. </p> Cons: Wish these features could be added: 1- Ability to delete parent folder if all subfolders are empty. That's my case actually many times, with subfolders reaching couple thousands. Have it as a feature to choose from, not a default one, since others might prefer instantaneous check of each folder in case parallel files moving around in the system... 2- Support list of directories (comma or new line separated) instead of being limited to only one.

Great tool, stable and reliable.

Worked great! I had a NAS with years of files on it. After using a duplicate file finder and other software to automatically catalog and order my music (jaikoz) and photos (auto photo organizer), I had many empty folders. I guess the programs don't delete the folders after cleaning up the data or maybe I didn't choose the right settings. RED found over 1,400 empty directories! Crazy. Once found RED successfully deleted the files. Only wish for the product is that that it produced a log file that you could save that included the list of deleted files. Other than that, this work fantastically well.

This used to work REALLY GREAT for my Kindle to remove all my deleted books. And then...I don't know what happened. I upgraded to a Paperwhite Kindle and they are leaving the folders behind with something like Lee Child.sdr and in the folders are Lee Child.mbp1 and Lee Child.mbs so that while I have deleted the book - there are empty folders taking up space. In my older Kindle your program would completely strip out all the deleted books. I don't even know if you could solve that or not. But I sure miss that option. It was my Go To program for that. I used to brag about it just for that option.
