PixelOS 17 · redwood
Android 17 for the POCO X5 Pro 5G — built from source, signed with own release keys.

Read this before you flash
This build is rooted out of the box with KernelSU-Next, and your bootloader stays unlocked. Together that means Play Integrity will not pass, and banking, payment and some DRM apps may simply refuse to run. If you depend on those apps, this ROM isn't for you — and no ROM can fix that for you.
Two more things worth knowing up front:
- Every unit gets the Indian (
redwoodin) build fingerprint. On a Global unit, expect the occasional region quirk. - There's no built-in updater yet. When the next build lands, sideload it straight over the top — same keys, no wipe.
Coming from another ROM? Format data.
Changelog
18 September 2026 — initial release
- First unofficial build, based on PixelOS 17 (Android 17)
- Ships the Vajra 5.4.302 kernel
- Root built in: KernelSU-Next with SuSFS
- Signed with my own release keys

There's nothing to diff against yet — this is build one. For what changed in PixelOS 17 itself, see the upstream PixelOS changelogs.

Flashing
Already running this ROM? Just sideload the new zip — skip to step 4. The zip is a complete build, kernel and recovery included, so there's nothing to fastboot. Same keys, no wipe.
First time here? You need the three images first. Your current recovery won't accept a zip signed
with my keys, and flashing boot.img is what puts a working recovery on the phone.
1 — Check anti-rollback first. Do this before anything else.
fastboot getvar anti
If that number is higher than your current firmware expects, stop here. Flashing past it bricks the phone — an actual brick, not a bootloop you can recover from.
2 — Flash the images.
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash vendor_boot vendor_boot.img
fastboot flash dtbo dtbo.img
That writes to your active slot, which is all you need — the sideload in step 4 fills the other
slot completely. If you'd rather have both slots identical anyway, use the suffixed form
instead: fastboot flash boot_a boot.img, then fastboot flash boot_b boot.img, same for the rest.
3 — Boot to recovery and format data.
fastboot reboot recovery
Coming from another ROM, format before you sideload — pick Factory reset → Format data. Already on this ROM? Skip the format; same keys, no wipe.
4 — Sideload the ROM.
In recovery pick Apply update → Apply from ADB, then:
adb sideload PixelOS_redwood-17.0-20260918-UNOFFICIAL.zip
Reboot when it finishes.
