Qubes OS 4.3.1 is an open source operating system designed to provide strong security for desktop computing using Security by Compartmentalization approach. Qubes is based on Xen, X Window System, and Linux, and can run most Linux applications and utilize most of the Linux drivers. It can also run Windows apps natively in Windows AppVMs ("Beta").
Qubes OS is a security-focused Linux system that isolates every app in its own virtual machine, so a compromised browser can't touch your files. It's praised for maximum isolation and used by people with high threat models, but it demands lots of RAM and isn't for everyday casual use.
