Introducing the first beta release for 6.1.0. Please report any issues found in this beta to help us make a good final release.

We are now in feature freeze, so any feature request will have to wait until 6.1.0 is released.

NOTICE: 6.1 introduces several new build options, please review README before upgrading 6.0.x from source.
