Dark Rifts have been appearing within the Ombrix Region for decades; however, in recent years they've begun to increase in size and magnitude. Dark Rifts radiate a strange substance known as Dark Energy. When Dark Energy settles it crystallizes. It can also enter into living things causing mutations and creating changes in their behavior. The Ombrix Council (The 8 Gym Leaders) is now working with the organization known as the SC to try and contain this Energy before it gets any worse.
