Live Linux Desktop Operating System with Ollama & Preconfigured AI Applications

This project provides a live Linux desktop operating system built on top of Arch Linux, featuring a set of preconfigured applications that run out of the box. It includes a seamless instance of Ollama running in the background for advanced AI-powered features. The system is designed to work even on older hardware (tested on 10-year-old systems) and aims to offer users the opportunity to learn coding, explore AI, and experiment with powerful tools. Deepseek-r1 1.5b q4 and Nomic-embed are included

Preconfigured Applications

1. Anythingllm
   A powerful AI language model interface for quick access to advanced AI capabilities. You can use Anythingllm to interact with large language models and explore their potential in various domains.

2. Chatbox
   A user-friendly interface for chatting with AI models. Great for general conversations, brainstorming ideas, or just having fun with AI-powered chatbots.

3. Code-oss
   An open-source build of VSCode (Visual Studio Code), pre-configured for development with support for a wide range of programming languages and extensions. It comes with an intuitive interface, providing an ideal environment for both beginners and advanced developers.

4. n8n
   A no-code workflow automation tool. It allows you to automate repetitive tasks, integrate services, and create powerful automation workflows using a visual interface. Perfect for users who want to explore automation without coding.

5. aichat-ng
   An commandline AI chat tool designed for interaction with large language models. It allows users to learn about AI-assisted communication and explore how AI can be utilized in real-world scenarios.

6. Searxng
   A privacy-respecting meta-search engine. Searxng aggregates results from various search engines, ensuring privacy and anonymity while browsing the web. AnythingLLM is preconfigured to use it for AI powered web search

Ollama Integration

An instance of Ollama (an AI service) is preconfigured and running in the background, offering users a consistent AI experience across the system. This feature allows for a variety of AI-based applications and services to be used seamlessly while you interact with the desktop environment.

System Requirements

• Minimum hardware requirements:
• CPU: 2 cores, 2.0 GHz or higher (Tested on 10-year-old hardware)
• RAM: 4 GB or higher
• Storage: 8 GB of available space (Live system, no installation required)
• Graphics: Basic GPU support (works on older hardware)
• Bootable USB: A USB stick (2 GB or more) to boot the live OS

Installation

This operating system is designed to be used as a live system. You can boot it directly from a USB drive or DVD without the need to install it on your computer.

1. Download the ISO image from the release section.
2. Use a tool like Rufus or dd to create a bootable USB stick with the downloaded ISO file.
3. Boot your computer from the USB stick.
4. Once the system boots, you’ll have access to a fully functional Linux desktop with all the preconfigured applications and Ollama running in the background.

Testing & Performance

This live operating system has been specifically tested on 10-year-old hardware and has proven to run smoothly even on older systems. It provides a responsive environment for learning, coding, and experimenting with AI, even without the latest hardware.
