Pinux

An Arch-based Linux distribution with Hyprland, installed from one ISO by a guided installer. Not affiliated with or endorsed by Arch Linux.

Current image: pinux-public-light-2026.09.26.iso (check it against the .sha256 file).

What this release does

  • Secure Boot stays ON. The ISO and the installed system boot through Microsoft-signed shim; the bootloader and kernels are signed. No BIOS visit, not even to install.
  • Beside Windows. The installer finds Windows, shrinks it (default 30 GB) and installs next to it. GRUB switches between the two; Windows does not take over the boot.
  • Offline install. By default nothing is downloaded during the install: the core system is on the ISO. Other programs install on their first launch.
  • Btrfs with snapshots in the boot menu, optional LUKS encryption, no-password option.

Secure Boot: two blue screens, once per computer

Both are the same move in the blue MokManager screen: Enroll key from disk. A "Security Violation" box may come first: press Enter.

  1. Booting the USB: any key > Enroll key from disk > (the USB) > EFI > BOOT > pinux-iso.cer > Continue > Yes > Reboot.
  2. First boot after installing: any key > Enroll key from disk > (the disk) > EFI > Pinux > pinux.cer > Continue > Yes > Reboot.

Missed it? Nothing breaks - the same screen comes back on the next boot.

Install

Boot the USB, then run pinux-install and answer the questions. Before installing beside Windows: back up, and if BitLocker is on, either turn it off or shrink C: yourself in Disk Management and leave the space unallocated.

Status

Tested end to end in VirtualBox (UEFI, Secure Boot on, with and without Windows 11). Real hardware reports are welcome.
