This installer will install Debian with Plasma Mobile GUI onto a production (V2.0) PineTab2 eMMC.

The default username is pt2

The default password is 1234

The installer is a modified version of the Danctnix OS Factory Tool. The license of the installer remains GPL 3.0 as defined by Danct and copyright remains Copyright Danct.

The installer will overwrite the contents of the eMMC and replace all data and the operating system on the PineTab2.

The resultant operating system will consist of:-
Kernel image, DTB, idbloader.img, u-boot.img in /boot
Kernel modules in /lib/modules/
BES2600 firmware in /lib/firmware/bes2600/
Everything else in the root filesystem is unmodified Debian packages.

The kernel is compiled from this source code:-
https://github.com/dreemurrs-embedded/linux-pinetab2/releases/tag/v6.11.4-danctnix1

This project is not endorced either by Pine64 nor Danctnix OS.

The project can accept no liability for anything.

All Copyright and licenses remain with the providers of the components contained within this image.

To use the image, use gunzip to expand the file, use dd or your favourite SDcard image writer tool to put the image on a microSD card, and boot the PineTab2 from the microSD card.

Once installed, at a minimum change the pt2 and root passwords to more secure ones, or create a new user account and remove pt2.

The image will not autoexpand to the fill the eMMC, however once booted it is easy to adjust the size of the rootfs using the included KDE Partition Manager.

The PineTab2 may be reluctant to shutdown, with several minutes delay whilst the BES2600 wifi driver unloads. This can be avoided by turning off the wifi in the menu that can be pulled down from the top of the screen before shutting down or rebooting. This is much improved from kernel 6.11.4

There is a video of the PineTab2 running this image here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9xpSuG63Rck
