  • one of the best linux operating systems that looks like mac and windows in 1. Though zorin os does look best for the windows side, this is the best for the mac due to its customization settings. so i've compared it to some other linux mac based operating systems and this seems to be the best. Some stuff is worst but the others looked out dated and old. this actually looks modern. With some tweaks by adding Cairo-dock and some other things, it looks like a proper mac.
  • WOW, JUST WOW!!! PearlDesktop-7.1-2018-11-18_i386.iso and PearlDesktop-7.1_amd64.iso are the MOST RESPONSIVE Linux Distros with all the wonderful flash of Compiz I have ever used OOTB! PearlDesktop-7.1-2018-11-18_i386.iso has some glitches, appears to access 8GB of RAM mainly the Application menu failure with a /home/scott/... referenced in the error, then it locks up, but PearlDesktop-7.1_amd64.iso IS BUTTERSCOTCH in initial testing!

  • i havent tried out this specific version yet but i have tried the majority and all of them have been great for application they were designed for and there is a flavor for every machine built it seems from slower old ones rasberry pi all the way up to top of the line monster machines. during my early quest to find a suitable replacement for windows pearl linux was light a beacon shinning bright in rough seas. it was user friendly enough for me to make the swith comfortably without too much confusion, it gave new life to my old hp mini when i was ready to give it up and toss it and it gave ahhh, and amazement in the beauty once i managed to get a much better laptop that could handle all the visual effects pearl had to offer and it never disapointed me beautiful distro hands down my favorite linux flavor so far and pearl is kind of like my first love it will always hold a place in my heart. its very obvious you guys love this project and take alot of time and care in every detail to be able to provide an os built for the masses. keep it up.
  • I tryed this os and i think is very beautiful I come from Linux Mint and i m not able change language in italian Somebody can help me ? Thank you
  • I love this mac look a like distro, after the download and burning the iso i prepare for installing. I was facing to ran into problems but the installation process was running well until the installer crash due an bug. I was figuring out what was happening, the problem was installing updates and 3 party software. I decided to ignore install updates during the installation and the installer was finishing the second attempt of installing Pearl Desktop 1.2 64 bit. So this was done, then the system language could only be in english while i want the dutch language but it seems it can´t i have installed al dutch possibles files for firefo, thunderbird and libreoffice but despite there is no option to correct this. User friiendly not 100 % due some missing options and an installer that crashed while installing updates and 3 party software. For the rest sometimes an freezing dock but for the rest everything is working great. This distro has potential and when they fixed some bugs or problems then it is an good choice and i am going tu use this distro daily.

  • I really like the look of this distro and the choice of included software. I downloaded Pearl-Desktop_1.2_i386.iso and ran it on an old Pentium 4 PC. It works very nicely in live mode from DVD. The only problem is that I cannot install it. I have tried installing several times, but the installer always crashes at the final stage. The earlier stages of the installation process seem to be OK -- although there is the "UBI-console-setup failure" problem at the keyboard layout selection step when using a keyboard other than US English (a well-known and apparently unsolved bug in many Ubuntu-based distros). After entering user name, password etc a message saying "We are sorry, the installer has crashed ..." appears without any further explanation. I will try the installation on another computer to see whether the problem is hardware specific.
  • Works much better than the 2 first version . Very user friendly. Thanks Scott and team for the good effort.
