PerceptualDiff is an image comparison utility that compares two images using a perceptual metric. That is, it uses a computational model of the human visual system to determine if two images are visually different, so minor changes in pixels are ignored.

amazing application! very good to be used on automation scripts like auto-load savegames; mind creating a .deb package for ubuntu? [offtopic: interesting there is only upvoters comments; I understand downvoters are exercising their freedom of opinion, even if it is non-sense (they dont dare commenting).
