NOTE: This software is compatible with Windows. However, you may be able to run it elsewhere if you use a Windows emulator.

To install, download the ZIP file to your PC and either extract it to a new folder (for first-time use) or on top of your existing installation (if upgrading).

There's thousands of chemicals and ingredients in the index that need revision, either manually or from external data stores.

This helps everyone - the more accurate the data we have, the better perfumes we can make!

Version 4.7

  • Fixed an issue that affected new installations, preventing the software from starting correctly

Version 4.5

  • Allow override of density by inventory items (if your sample differs from the index)

  • Consistent methods for lookup of materials and densities

  • Information displayed about fields when hovering over them

Version 4.4

  • Option to compress programme data for backup purposes

  • Remember window position and size when application closed

  • Editing of extra data fields

Version 4.3

  • Feature to search within material notes and extended (other) fields

Version 4.2

  • Allow upload and download of index changes to central server (yes, it sends data, but NOT your compositions)

  • Label for index change notifications without popup

  • Store material index enumerations as strings, as it is more robust

  • Added 'flavour' as a material use

Version 4.1

  • Allow sizing of the window, with control anchoring to suit.

  • Tinkering with notes textbox placeholders

  • Added a command line flag '/sampledata' to allow loading of a sample data set to demonstrate features of the programme.

  • Fixed small issues with default currency

  • Download FX daily rates from open.er-api.com

Version 4.0

  • Support for higher resolution screens (forces Windows 10+)

  • Split code out from regions in FormMain into separate files

  • Modified default data files to embedded JSON so that the application can be used as standalone

  • Removed the unused installer project

  • Added export feature for compositions

  • Simplified and abstracted code for exporting

Version 3.7

  • Built into a 64-bit binary

Please extract the ZIP file into a folder on your desktop and run it from there

Version 3.7

  • Important bug fix to the graph-walking code for interpolation of relative strength values

  • Fixed a bug where units of measurement were being saved incorrectly in some circumstances

Version 3.6

  • Compositions now display relative strength information for people who have completed the scent comparison game!

Version 3.5

  • The system now shows comparitive strength data when the game has been completed 100%

  • The default has changed from drops to mL, since millilitre measurements are highly recommended

  • Keyboard shortcuts for new inventory items, and saving inventory items and compositions

  • A new, more scientific-looking splash screen

  • A new installation programme that supports upgrading directly from older versions

Version 3.4

  • Added new searchable dropdowns on the game tab to make it easier to select materials

  • Added a searchable dropdown on the composition tab

Version 3.3

  • Modified the data loader to store data files in the application data folder to prevent issues for non-Administrator users

  • Added a button on the settings tab that opens the data folder in Windows Explorer

Version 3.2

  • Added a new and fun strength comparison feature!

  • Auto-scroll notes box on compositions to the bottom

  • Fine-tuned the grid auto-scrolling behaviour

  • Fixed tab stops on all forms to make them more intuitive

Version 3.1

  • New quick search feature that works more responsively with the expanded index

  • More icons for buttons

  • Sponsorship details added

Version 3.0

  • Added almost 25,000 new materials to the index

  • Added a new 'Publish' button that formats the composition for sharing with other people

  • Fixed bug related to milligram measurements

  • Added image icons for buttons on the composition tab

  • Fixed a bug where deletion of sub-compositions could cause the application to crash

  • Implemented soft delete instead of actual deletion of items in: index, inventory, compositions and batches; the user can also un-hide items that were hidden previously

  • Feature to merge two compositions (example use: merging top, middle and base subcompositions)

  • Flipped the sorting of compositions so that the most recent compositions appear at the top of the list

Version 2.6

  • Added new tags "Oily", "Earthy" to broaden the way that scents can be described in the index

  • Fixed a bug on the composition screen where copying a fragrance would automatically revert components to 'drops' measurements

Version 2.5

INDEX

  • Added new fields to record more data about each field:
  • Boiling Point
  • IFRA Maximum Use %
  • Strength (how strong the material smells compared to others)

  • Updated the index data with 1,359 boiling points (these data may be inaccurate!)

  • Added tooltips to explain more about the type of data in each field

INVENTORY

  • Added a full list of currencies with some default values for them

COMPOSITIONS

  • Added drop-down checkbox lists for material tags to make more room on the screen

  • Added a new composition type for tinctures

  • Now showing the per litre and per kilogram cost for each composition, at-a-glance

  • Added the ability to enter milligram amounts by typing 'x' after the amount

BATCHES

  • A new tab to make it easier to calculate and record batches in production

  • A grid to show all batches

  • Data fields that may be entered by the user:

  • Code
  • Name / Description
  • Date of production
  • Composition that the batch relates to
  • Volume of each bottle
  • Number of bottles in batch
  • Notes on the batch (e.g. how long to age it for, etc.)

  • Calculated fields to help with creation of the batch:

  • Total volume
  • Total weight
  • Cost per litre
  • Cost per kilogram
  • Total batch cost

  • A grid showing the amount to use of each material

  • A 'lock' button to freeze the batch details once it is complete (for example, while a batch is locked its numbers will remain the same even if ingredient prices change)

SETTINGS

  • Added a new tab for settings, with some small features to be extended later

  • Define defaults for:

  • Drops / mL
  • Density (it is still recommended that a density is entered for each material in the index!)
