This is the last version currently released to npm in 2021, added here for the sake of completeness. However, there have been many bugfixes and new features added to the master branch that have not yet been released. A release plan is still to be discussed among the maintainers, there are still several pending pull requests that we want to get merged before releasing a new version.
While waiting for 2.0.0 to be released, the current master can be used as a github dependency via
npm install "https://github.com/opentypejs/opentype.js.git#master"
or by building the dist files from the repository, keeping in mind that even though the master branch is protected by required code reviews for each PR and disallowing direct code changes, there might still be the case that something gets messed up or even broken when there is no test catching it. Although that risk should be only marginally higher than with any proper release.
