This really has a lot of potential to be a great player. there are far too little players that have a good waveform view. That's an excellent feature for people who produce music or audio. It's simplicity is magnificent but also a flaw. I could see this being a great utility player for power-users more than a "bells and whistle" consumer itunes replacement. Those who need a waveform view usually need to see the transients. These people tend to do sound design. Although it is stunning(especially with the metro skin), its functions seem fairly awkward and unintuitive. In the version i tested on OSX, There isn't a file menu on the menubar to open files or the preferences menu. Even a small button or icon would be helpful instead of a illusive context menu. This could go hand in hand on a linux distro, but on mac, it doesn't quite fit in. It's simplicity and clunky way of opening files lends itself to a better mac quicklook plugin. ,which is what's really needed. A good replacement for the built-in audio quick-look with editing capabilities would be really helpful for those of us who work extensively with audio. Of course this is being in alpha stage, i did have a few force closes with errors. I'm sure this is a pursuit of a single programmer, so this is completely forgivable and not held against it. pros: - great interface design(metro) - waveform view is really helpful. cons: - Unituitive - lacks more distinguishing functions (besides waveform) Conclusion: although it's not fully matured, It's simple and beautiful design with addition of a waveform really outweighs the negatives. I very little use for at the moment, I will definitely keep an eye on this project for future developments. what I would like to see: -waveform zoom - file menus - quicklook plugin - more utilitarian functions, like file simple trimming (much like the new quicktime), ID3 file info, and maybe a quick file converter. I hope this is helpful to the developer and hope to see more
