nsenter is a historical Docker utility repository that made the Linux nsenter tool easy to build and install when major distributions did not yet ship it. The tool enters the namespaces of an existing process, making it possible to inspect or interact with a running container from the host. The repository includes a Docker-based installer and a docker-enter helper that locates a container’s process ID automatically. It was especially useful before docker exec became standard. Unlike docker exec, namespace entry does not automatically join the container’s cgroups. Modern Linux distributions now include nsenter through util-linux, so the archived repository is mainly valuable for historical study and low-level container debugging concepts.
