:: DESCRIPTION or/and USES ::

Just what is this nix32 project all about? Well, generally speaking, I am a computer geek (thats my day job) and although I love and much prefer working on almost any type of UNIX or Linux OS , I do indeed find myself forced to work on Windows machines as well. I have a good number of them that I administer and invariably I end up with the Command Prompt open working on something, typing ls;mv;cp;mkdir;cat;grep;touch and more because I am used to it. Aside from that, it doesnt appear that Windows has any replacements of its own for those commands, much less any good ones.
Thats when I got the idea to write some of my favorite commands myself. I know, I could install cygwin or something, but thats an involved install, a bit of trouble, kind of quirky anyway, plus some folks dont want/allow it to be installed on their servers. Truth be told, while I do have and use cygwin on my own machines, for others I just wanted some of those wonderfully familiar and productive commands that I could copy to the target server or even simply run from a thumb drive, etc.
Since I like PERL, and I knew it could be compiled to a DOS compatible executable, I decided to write what I wanted or needed in PERL, compile it, and have fun. About that time I also thought it would be really cool to make it an open source project so that not only could other people benefit from it as well, but also I might be able to get some help from some of you coders out there who are much better than I am so that the commands could really shine! So, all that being said, check them out if you want to use them, they are free, and jump in and help if you want so we all can make the commands and the whole project that much better!
