MX Linux BSE Respin

MX Linux Bare Server Edition is an unofficial, community-supported "respin" of the MX Linux desktop distribution, with almost everything unnecessary for a server environment removed. It is intended for those who wish to experiment with creating a small server for personal use. It is NOT intended or recommended for use as a production, mission-critical, or Internet-facing server: a standard server distro is recommended for those uses. Those who use MX, or any desktop Linux distro, as a server do so at their own risk.

Based on the MX18 Continuum (Minimal) Respin by Manyroads, MX Linux BSE takes minimalization a step further. Only Samba comes preinstalled, for use as a file or print server. Anything else such as software support for RAID arrays or logical volumes, Apache web server, PHP, MySQL, etc. will need to be installed by the user from the MX Stable Repository. The MX Package Installer tool is recommended for this.

The MX Linux User Manual may be accessed by holding ALT and pressing F1. Note that this manual is for the main desktop-oriented distribution.

For instructions on creating a live USB for test-driving this and other respins, or the main MX Linux distro, see https://forum.mxlinux.org/viewtopic.php?f=23&t=50558

For support requests or further information regarding this respin see https://forum.mxlinux.org/viewtopic.php?f=100&t=51060
