mrv2 and vmrv2 are open source professional players and review tools for VFX, animation and computer graphics for Windows, Linux and macOS. You can build them from source or download prebuilt binaries.
Binaries are available for multiple operating systems and CPU architectures. Be sure to download the correct one for your system, and check all release assets—GitHub often hides part of the list.

Two versions are available:
mrv2 with OpenGL backend (free and donationware) vmrv2 with Vulkan backend (free and donationware)
It has NOT been tested on Windows aarch64 (beta testers wanted).
Unlocking Features
To unlock donationware features, open:
Help->Unlock Features.
The same license works for both mrv2 and vmrv2, so you can have both installed. An internet connection is required for license activation.
Without a donation license, the following features are unavailable:

The free version still includes:

- UI: Secondary Window now remembers the screen number and positioning except on Linux Wayland (which does not allow it).
- UI: Secondary and Main Window now draw black borders when any of them is in Presentation Mode. If not in presentation mode, they will use the color set in Preferences->Language and Colors->BG Color.
- UI: Added back Playback->Toggle In/Out OTIO clip for .otio and .otioz to make the in and out points for one video clip in the timeline.

Fixes
- UI/Linux: Audio is no longer turned off if the main window is hidden, but the secondary window is still visible.
- UI/Linux: There's no longer stuttering of Secondary display under either Linux or Windows on any of the backends.
- Core/Linux: Fixed a mis-used EGL (ie.OpenGL) function.
- Edit: Selecting an item and deleting it no longer crashes the application. A regression in v1.7.8 from v1.7.7.
