The first public beta of Morph: convert and edit files from a radial menu, on Windows and Linux. Press Ctrl + Shift + Space, drop files on the orb, pick what to do. Everything runs on your computer.
Download
| System | File |
|---|---|
| Windows 10 / 11 (64-bit) | Morph_0.1.0_x64-setup.exe: double-click and follow the setup. No admin rights needed. |
| Ubuntu, Debian, Linux Mint | Morph_0.1.0_amd64.deb: double-click; it opens in the software centre. |
| Fedora, openSUSE | Morph-0.1.0-1.x86_64.rpm |
| Any other Linux | Morph_0.1.0_amd64.AppImage: allow it to run as a program (right-click → Properties), then double-click. |
Windows may say "Windows protected your PC" because Morph isn't code-signed yet. Click More info → Run anyway.
What it does
- Images (PNG, JPG, WEBP, AVIF, HEIC from iPhones, BMP, TIFF, GIF, ICO): convert, resize, crop, shrink, combine into a PDF.
- Video (MP4, MKV, WEBM, MOV, AVI…): convert to MP4, WEBM or GIF, shrink, extract the soundtrack, mute.
- Audio (MP3, WAV, FLAC, OGG, M4A…): convert, even out the loudness.
- PDF: merge in the order you choose, split by pages, shrink, save pages as images, rotate.
- Documents (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, OpenDocument, RTF, TXT): save as PDF, using Microsoft Office or LibreOffice if you have one.
Results are saved next to the original (photo.converted.png), and Morph never replaces a file without asking. You can also right-click files and choose Convert with Morph.
Private and light
No account, no uploads, no telemetry. The only time Morph goes online is a quick check for a new version when it starts (you can turn it off in Settings); updates are signed and installed only when you say so. While it waits in the tray it uses almost nothing: on Windows about 2 MB of memory and no CPU.
Good to know in this beta
- On Linux, Files (Nautilus) shows Convert with Morph under Scripts. On Wayland desktops other than GNOME, add a keyboard shortcut that runs
morph --toggle. - PDF pages → images on Linux needs
poppler-utils; documents need Microsoft Office (Windows) or LibreOffice. - Found a problem or have an idea? Open an issue.
Morph is free software under the GPL-3.0-or-later. The installers include an LGPL build of FFmpeg (THIRD_PARTY.md (github.com)).
