MGC (Microbial Genome Comparison) is a Java-based simple graphical interface to BLAST and BioPerl functions for comparative genome analysis of small genomes. Installation Before installing MGC, you need to install Java and Perl runtime package and add the installation path to your PATH environment so that Perl can be called. Then you need to install BLAST+ and a Perl package, XML:SAX, on your machine. After this, you can start to install MGC. Download mgc.zip from our Sourceforage site. Expand mgc.zip to the directory in which you want to install MGC. Enter the installation directory and run mgc.jar. Once you install MGC, you can run the sample genome data we provide on MGC to see if you can get the correct results. The results of the sample genome data are also provided. Usage Help files are included in MGC executable package(mgc.zip). You can find them in the "help" folder under MGC installation directory. You can also click "Help" buttons on every step of MGC to get instructions for this step.
