mediaTagging is a deterministic command-line toolkit for reading, validating, organizing, and writing metadata in audio and video files. It is designed for reproducible processing of large media repositories without heuristics or hidden behavior.

The suite includes tools for extracting metadata (gettag), sanitizing ID3 tags (id3purify), structuring and relocating MP3 files (id3safe), converting metadata to XML (media2xml), converting XML archives to JSON (xml2json), and writing metadata to MP4/M4A files (setMp4Tag).

All tools are script-friendly, pipeline-oriented, and rely on explicit rules for transformation. They avoid implicit assumptions and ensure deterministic output across runs and systems. The focus is on MP3 and MP4/M4A formats, with ffprobe/ffmpeg used for broader format support.

mediaTagging is intended for large-scale media repositories where consistency, repeatability, and transparency of metadata operations are critical.
