Using same shell on Unix and Windows is great! But @rafaelbdb is totally right, Far Manager on Windows is a far more advanced shell than MC.

If you think this is good, try FarManager. The only advantage of MC is that it "works" on multiple platforms (bugged in Windows 10).

no SMB support, good FTP support, bad is that no out of the box windows 7 x64 cyrillic support, I've tried to switch between encodings in panel listings but no luck I got error and hang outs.... some hot keys won't work properly, but if you tinker more you probably find all what you need, still there is no comparative or competive vs far under windows for now I suggest to stick on to my Far installation much more likelly adopted to windows 7 cmd.....otherwise the author of these mc windows port not fixing these issues up there. I have seen opened ticked for cyrillic encoding since 2012 year, nobody seems interested in to fix that and doing proper language support for these mc port.....so yeah, I am luck luster to use these great piece of software under windows... Also these compiled without any samba featuries cause they are probably left this port much more vulnerable to instability issues @.@ in other words "FTP usage is stricted" ;/ Nevermind, I still got usage for these great tool sometime in future when cyrillic would be fixed.

At last, I can use the same file manager on both Windows and Linux! No more differences in keyboard shortcuts, or irritating GUI elements from Total Commander. The one manager to rule them all is now Midnight Commander.

Excellent Tool, which I believe more Windows Users should be aware of.
