Materializr 1.7.7

A first pass at sketch construction geometry, a whole-interface scale slider, more control over the sketch grid, and a round of fixes from tester reports.

Added

  • Construction geometry (early version). A Construction button in the sketch tools. With lines, circles, arcs or splines selected it turns them into construction (or back); otherwise it makes what you draw next construction. Construction geometry draws dashed and teal, stays selectable and snappable, and has no effect on the shape: regions, extrudes, push/pull and SVG/DXF export come out exactly as if it were not there. Trim, mirror, copy and patterns keep the flag. This is only the first part of the feature: infinite lines, horizontal/vertical/parallel helpers and tangents are not here yet, and feedback on what it needs next is very welcome.
  • Interface scale slider (Settings ▸ Appearance, 75% to 250%) on desktop. Scales the whole interface together (text, buttons, spacing, panels) on top of the size picked for your display, for when everything is too small to read without switching to Touch mode. Takes effect on restart; use Reset panel layout afterwards if the panels look cramped.
  • Scale grid with zoom switch and a Step switch size slider in the snap popup under the ViewCube. The switch turns the zoom-scaled grid on or off; the slider (4 to 40 px) sets how wide a grid cell may get before the step changes, which helps on screens where the cells look too fine or too coarse.
  • Grid rendering (experimental) in Settings ▸ Rendering: three workarounds for a grid that shimmers or flickers with anti-aliasing on certain GPU drivers (seen on Intel Arc). Leave it on Default unless the grid looks wrong.
  • Android: Full screen switch (Settings ▸ Appearance). Off by default, which keeps the status bar visible; on hides it as well.

Changed

  • Rectangle and Circle choose their origin from a menu. Click the tool again while it is active to pick Corner or Center (Center or 2-Point for circles). This replaces the extra "Draw from" button that appeared under them.
  • Buttons that open a menu now say so. A small corner wedge marks the tool rail's group buttons (Multiply, Transform, Repair, Import, Construct, Sketch on, Primitive) and Rectangle, Circle and Polygon.
  • Sketch grid steps pass through 0.5 and 5 as you zoom. The grid used to jump a whole decade at a time (0.1, 1, 10); it now steps 0.1, 0.5, 1, 5, 10. Inch and foot grids keep whole steps.
  • Frame rate follows your display. The VSync option is gone; the frame rate is capped at the refresh rate of the monitor the window is on, so a 144 Hz screen is no longer held to 60.
  • The "Working" window now draws over the last frame instead of blanking the viewport.
  • Construction Plane stays open after you drag it with the gizmo, with Apply and Cancel; the move is recorded in history and kept through undo and reload. A typed tilt is now saved too.
  • Editing a sketch on a very heavy model no longer rebuilds the body after every edit: once a rebuild is slow, the body updates once when you finish the sketch.
  • Camera: leaving orthographic view no longer rolls or snaps.

Fixed

  • Lathe / Cut: a body picked after opening the dialog is no longer ignored.
  • Android: the status bar stays visible and the menu bar sits below it, instead of being covered on tablets that draw edge-to-edge (Android 15).
  • Android/iOS: the "Working" window now sits over the last frame of the app instead of a grey screen, as on desktop.
  • Select-tool measurement labels (Settings ▸ Sketch) now show in the modern and touch layouts right after the app starts, not only after switching layouts.
  • Android: with Full screen on, the top bar no longer leaves a blank strip where the status bar was.

Thanks
