lz77-v3 - DUAS JANELAS + BIT IMPLICITO - v1.0.3
A modern, educational and secure implementation of the LZ77 compression family.
Historical lineage:
1977 - Abraham Lempel & Jacob Ziv (Technion, Israel) - Original LZ77 paper "A Universal Algorithm for Sequential Data Compression". Introduced sliding window + lookahead concept. All LZ variants descend from them.
1982 - James A. Storer & Thomas G. Szymanski - LZSS variant, introduced flag to distinguish literal vs (offset, length) token. Basis for our token format.
1984 - Terry Welch - LZW, dictionary variant.
2026 - Seth Bin Ghazi & Meta AI - LZ77-v3 family:
v1.0.0 - single window 16K
v1.0.1 - dual window (512 short + 16384 long) with explicit window flag
v1.0.2 - implicit bit optimization: removes window flag, decoder infers window from offset <=512 ? short : long. Saves ∼1 byte per match, ∼5-8% smaller than v2.
