localtunnel

Localtunnel is a pioneering tunneling project created to expose services running on localhost to the public Internet. The repository now contains a minimal third-generation implementation written in Go. Version 3 uses Progrium’s Duplex project to keep the tunneling implementation extremely small, at under roughly 200 lines. It is usable as a tunneling foundation, but the project no longer operates an official public tunnel server. The repository also preserves earlier implementations as historical branches. Version 2 used Python and gevent, while the original version combined Ruby, Python Twisted, and OpenSSH. The project therefore serves both as functional tunneling code and as an archive of one of the early developer-friendly localhost exposure tools.
