Imp City
--------

Imp City is a work in progress, inspired by the old Dungeon Keeper game. It's about building an underground kingdom and keeping your creatures happy.

In this release, you can:

You can order the imps to excavate new areas by clicking wall blocks.

You can order the imps to mine resources and valuables by clicking resource mounds. Up to three imps will mine at one mound. To successfully mine copper and tin ore, you need a workshop. To successfully mine gold, you need a treasurey.

You can declare a square as suitable for creature lairs by clicking the "bed" icon in the lower bar, and then clicking the square. A square can be home to several creatures.

You can revert from "change to lair" (or any other room type tool) to "excavate" by pressing the right mouse button.

The "food" icon works like the "bed" icon, just that it converts floor squares to farmland. Edible mushrooms will grow on the farmland. Larger areas of farmland are more efficient.

The "book" icon will build library rooms. Creatures will use that space for meditative spinning exercises. The libraries will some day serve as locations for research.

The "anvil and hammer" icon will let you build workshops. Imps will bring copper and tin ore to the workshops, and conians will make bronze coins from the ores.

The "treasure chest" icon will let you build treasuries, where the bronze coins from the workshops go to.

You're starting with three imps in this demo, waiting for your command. As long as there is enough space for lairs, new creatures will enter the dungeon randomly through the tunnel portal. You can also spawn more imps by the "imp" button on the "spells" tab.

You can save the game state by pressing "ctrl-s", and load it again by pressing "ctrl-l". There is only one saved game supported at the moment. The game data will be saved to the installation folder.

The archive contains a sample save game, showcasing most of the currently implemented features.

Quality:

Imp City r013 is a development snapshot to showcase terrain and basic game features. It's neither particularly stable nor free of bugs.

Known bugs:

Mining jobs sometimes get lost - that is, a resource mound or an earth block are marked for digging, but no imps take the job. In such a case, try to unmark the block and mark it again.

Imps can become stuck in repeated bad job choices. You'll notice this if the imp has a blinking "go to sleep" symbol over it's head. Usually this resolves after a while.

Sometimes the game freezes for a while after loading a saved game. Often this resolves after a short wait, if not, try loading again, or quitting and loading after a fresh start.

Occasionally pillars get lost around farms. Maybe in other places, too.
