iperf was developed by NLANR/DAST as a modern alternative for measuring maximum TCP and UDP bandwidth performance. Iperf allows the tuning of various parameters and UDP characteristics. Iperf reports bandwidth, delay jitter, and datagram loss.

iperf version 2 (in this repository) is no longer maintained by its original developers. Current ESnet development efforts are focused on version 3 of iperf (otherwise known as iperf3), which is available at:

https://github.com/esnet/iperf
http://software.es.net/iperf

Meanwhile, a third party has taken up development and maintenance of iperf2. As of this update (November 2017), this work can be found in the following repository:

User Reviews

  • Unable to get any documentation on the application except the help command. Joined the site to try and get some help and found that I need to be a developer to get the documentation. Very frustrating first 30 minutes and still have not even run iPERF. Lou
  • It is working like a charm! Thanks a lot for this one and thumb up!
