Image MetaWriter is a Linux command-line program that is used to embed metadata into images using ExifTool. Although ExifTool can do all of the work on its own, it is very complex & can be difficult to understand. This program is intended to help everyone to be able to embed metadata into all of their images, while avoiding the extreme learning curve of ExifTool. The main purpose of this program is to embed unique titles & comments into many images in batch process. It can also embed other metadata at the same time to make everything even easier & more convenient. Common data that is set up in a template, as well as unique titles & comments for each image, & even a Creative Commons license, can all be embedded into an entire album of images in one command. Image MetaWriter was originally intended to be used with interactive menus to make it easy enough for anyone to use. However, building the foundation took me a lot longer than I ever imagined it would. So, for now, I gave the foundation the ability to function on its own, without the interactive menus. Eventually, I should be able to finish this the way I originally intended. Version 1.00 will introduce the interactive menus, as well as some extra functionality. This program has been tested & confirmed to work in these Linux distros: -Arch Linux -CentOS Linux 5, 6, & 7 -Debian 8 -Fedora 25 (it was built in Fedora) -Linux Mint 17.3 & 18.1 -Manjaro Linux 16.10.3 -openSUSE 13.2 -openSUSE Leap 42.2 -Ubuntu 14.04, 16.04, & 16.10 -Zorin OS 12 The requirements of this program are ExifTool, Bash, & Awk. ExifTool requires Perl to run, so that can also be listed as a requirement. Virtually all Linux distros come with Bash & Awk, so ExifTool is most likely the only thing that will need to be installed. Installing Exiftool should automatically bring Perl along with it. This program should work in any Linux distro that has ExifTool, Bash, & Awk. There is no compiling or anything complicated required to use this program. You can just get it, & use it. As long as the requirements are met, Image MetaWriter will run forever. : ) Hopefully, this program will be useful to many people. Enjoy!!! :D :D :D
