IEDExplorer is an IEC 61850 client tool written for testing and educational purposes. IEDExplorer can connect to an IEC61850 device (also called an IED) over MMS (ISO/IEC9506-1 and ISO/IEC 9506-2) communication protocol. The tool is written in pure C# including the MMS ASN.1 parser (based on BinaryNotes ASN.1 tool) and runs in .net environment, on Windows. Linux/Mono support has been lost on the way (volunteers welcome). See Features for what the tool can do for you.

Features

  • connect to an IEC61850 device (IED)
  • inspect MMS variables in the tree structure
  • read/write values
  • issue commands including SBO
  • create or delete dynamic variable lists
  • activate and read un/buffered reports via dynamic or static variable lists
  • read directories and files (e.g. for COMTRADE protection event records)
  • capture MMS packets, inspect in XML or tree format
  • explore GOOSE messages
  • send GOOSE messages
  • Inspect SCL files
  • Simulate IED using SCL data (feature in experimental ALPHA state, using native libiec61850.dll)

    This is a great tool! Please edit the product description to include the fact that it can work as a Server too, when loading a CID file. Values can be written too. Another IED Client can connect to IEDExplorer Server and visualize the value changes. Thank you for releasing this tool for free. I cannot say anything about support as I didn't need it yet.

    Hi, Really great job. Congratulations. IEDExplorer can correctly parse our iec61850 server based on commercial stack. I thing it is first open source implementation of IEC61850 stack. Of course there is many to do, to get full featured tool like e.g. reports, goose. For this pioneer work I give 5 stars. Best regards MiSo
