# 2025.10.03 - iDeal DNS Switcher v1.4

iDeal DNS Switcher is a simple desktop utility that allows you to switch between nine free DNS providers at the click of a button.
These providers have been selected for their robust security and privacy practices.
They protect your browsing activity from prying eyes: no logging, no traces.
They help to protect your computer against a wide range of threats such as malware, phishing, spyware and botnets.
And save your children from undesirable contents.

iDeal DNS Switcher is written in Python and relies on the preinstalled packages described below.
PLEASE, read the User-Guide.pdf before installing and using this software.
See CHANGELOG.txt for release notes and updates.


### Prerequisites for installation (iDeal DNS Switcher has been successfully installed and tested on the following distributions with the packages listed hereunder):
  - Ubuntu / Kubuntu / Xubuntu 24.04.3 LTS
    sudo apt update && sudo apt install python3 python3-pyqt5 python3-requests

  - KDE neon 20250925
    1. sudo pkcon update && sudo pkcon install synaptic
    2. with synaptic install: python3 python3-pyqt5 python3-requests

  - Manjaro 25.0.8 KDE
    sudo pacman -Sy python-pyqt5 python-requests

  - Linux Mint 22.2 Cinnamon
    sudo apt update && sudo apt install python3 python3-pyqt5 python3-requests

  - MX Linux 23.6 XFCE
    sudo apt update && sudo apt install python3 python3-pyqt5 python3-requests

  - Fedora 42-1.1 KDE
    sudo dnf install python3-qt5

  - confirm with your password and complete the installation of the required dependencies.


### Installation:
  - right-click and open a terminal inside this extracted folder
  - type:   sudo ./install.sh
  - confirm with your password.


### Uninstallation:
  - right-click and open a terminal inside this extracted folder
  - type:   sudo ./uninstall.sh
  - confirm with your password.
