HiJackThis is an inactive project and it is not updated anymore. You may want to look at the existent unofficial forks though:
HijackThis is a free utility that generates an in depth report of registry and file settings from your computer. HijackThis scan results make no separation between safe and unsafe settings , which gives you the ability to selectively remove items from your machine. In addition to scan and remove capabilities, HijackThis comes with several useful tools to manually remove malware from your computer. However, HijackThis does not make value based calls between what is considered good or bad. It is important to exercise caution and avoid making changes to your computer settings, unless you have expert knowledge. Source code is available SourceForge, under Code and also as a zip file under Files.
- Lists the contents of key areas of the Registry and hard drive
- Generate reports and presents them in an organized fashion
- Does not target specific programs and URLs
- Detects only the methods used by hijackers to force you onto their sites

How to Analyze Your Logfiles No internet connection available? Read this: . In order to analyze your logfiles and find out what entries are nasty and what are installed by you, you will need to go to "hijackthis.de" web page. Just paste your complete logfile into the textbox at the bottom of that page, click "Analyze" and you will get the result. I find hijackthis very usful and easy to use.I have saved that web page to my disk to come back again and again. It is an excellent support. Thanks hijackthis!
A must have, very simple, runs on-demand and no installation required. Essential piece of software.
HiJackThis is very good at what it does - providing a log of what's on your Windows computer that could potentially be a hijacker, and removing items you select. It requires expertise to interpret the results, though - it doesn't tell you which items are bad. Non-experts need to submit the log to a malware-removal forum for analysis; there are several available. The AnalyzeThis function has never worked afaik, should have been deleted long ago.
