This is a download package for GUIbits version 1.0, a freeware library written in Python which provides a Application Program Interface for a Graphical User Interface based on PyQt.

This download package contains:

 1. The library itself in source form.

 2. Various test programs.

 3. A manual, readable with any HTML browser.

 4. My learning journals for the update from GUIbits 0.7.


To use the library:

 1. Download the guibits1_0.zip file.

 2. Extract the guibits1_0 folder.
 
 3. In Program Files, create a folder GUIbits, and move the guibits1_0 folder into it.
 
 4. Find the PYTHONPATH environment variable (in Settings/System/About/Advanced system settings/Environment Variables)
 
 5. Add the entry C:\Program Files\GUIbits to the PYTHONPATH.
 
Note 1: These instructions are for Windows systems.  If you are using a Linux or Mac system, modify them accordingly.

Note 2: You must have Python (version 3.8 or later) and PyQt6 installed on your computer.
