Gradle Release

This Gradle plugin provides a Maven-like release workflow (gradle release). It automates version bumping, snapshot removal, build, tagging, branch switching, and next-version prompt—compatible with Git, SVN, Bazaar, and Mercurial.

Checks for VCS uncommitted or incoming/outgoing changes
Removes -SNAPSHOT suffix and prompts for release version
Builds project before tagging
Tags release in version control
Prompts for and commits next snapshot version
Supports multiple VCS systems (Git, SVN, Bazaar, Mercurial)
