The level of individual engagement demonstrated with the evolution of paradigms in online social networking - from the first BBS to the social microblog and interest networks of the social network services industry, today - it may be viewed as a trend indicating a broader potential for further development of community-managed knowledge resources.
Considering the availability of enterprise-grade Java portal frameworks with social networking functionality - such as Liferay and the now historic GateIn UXP - clearly, there is potential for supporting "grassroots" community social entrepreneurialism with the modern Java enterprise architecture.
