                          NCP+
----------------------------------------------------------

The NCP+ is an ASON/GMPLS and PCE-based control plane, extended to enable the joint on-demand Network + IT Provisioning Service (NIPS) over a virtual infrastructure. The NCP+ functionalities comprise the combined selection of network and IT resources, as well as the coordination of these resources through the entire service life-cycle, from setup to tear-down, supporting mechanisms for dynamic modification, cross-layer recovery and monitoring. These services are offered through a service interface, called NIPS UNI, towards the Service Middleware Layer. Moreover, the NCP+ implements mechanisms to guarantee energy efficiency in end-to-end resource allocation and procedures to dynamically optimize the size of the virtual infrastructure depending on the actual resource utilization.
