Envy is a very promising legacy P2P client written in native C++ with a full-featured Win32 GUI. It supports multiple protocols including ED2K, BitTorrent, Gnutella, and Direct Connect, and includes an advanced plugin system, multilingual support, and a complete Inno Setup-based installer. However, the project is no longer actively maintained, and some features (like Kademlia support) are still missing or incomplete. While several compilation issues have been fixed for Visual Studio 2022 x64, it needs contributors to bring it fully back to life, modernize the codebase, and implement new features. As i've mentioned on GitHub, this software is highly unfinished (feels like pre-alpha) yet and not ready for any productive use. It looks buggy and the gui glitches even on fresh installed Win10, it crashes very often without telling the user what the reason is (so you need to find out on your own), forgets GWebCaches or doesn't even request from them, etc, etc. Having said that, i really like the idea of what the software is trying to become as soon as it's finished. Its basically Shareaza (which is the best multi net p2p client ever) but ported to newer Windows versions, with fitting looks, extra functions, regular updates and security improvements. Im hyped and cant wait until i can finally test the official V1 as i absolutely love Shareaza but hate having to stick to obsolete and discontinued software. However, if you were looking for a stable, fast and reliable filesharing client that is based on Shareaza, i can only recommend using PeerProject (also made by SkinVista and the precursor to Envy) as it is far more stable at the moment. Envy will grow. But it needs attention as much as it needs love. You should start by reviving getenvy.com (also as update server) and fixing the most obvious bugs. Also, the constant line redrawing of Shareaza shouldn't make it into the final Envy. Huge thanks and best wishes from Germany.
