Furigana for PowerPoint is a free, open-source Windows companion for creating and editing Japanese ruby text in desktop Microsoft PowerPoint.
Because PowerPoint has no native furigana support, the application builds editable groups from ordinary textboxes. Select Japanese text (or start with an empty slide) press a shortcut, review the automatically suggested readings, and insert a neatly aligned furigana block.
Reading prediction runs entirely on your PC, so slide text is not sent to an online service. Existing blocks can be edited, resized and reflowed, while “Set free” converts them back into ordinary PowerPoint textboxes for unrestricted manual adjustment.
Designed especially for teachers, tutors and creators of Japanese-language learning materials. Portable, privacy-friendly and licensed under GPL-2.0-or-later.
