    Dear FreeMind users,

now, the next beta version of FreeMind 1.0.0 is available.
It is mainly a release, with a workaround for a java problem. Now, old maps can be updated as usual. This was broken with the latest Java 7 update 4.

"Beta" indicates, that there is no big risk of data loss, but some of the new features may not work as expected. Observe, that maps, when saved with this version, can't be opened with the stable release 0.9.0 afterwards, as the file format is enhanced in 1.0.0.

    Download: https://sourceforge.net/projects/freemind/files/freemind-unstable/1.0.0_Beta5/

    Best regards, Chris. FreeMind's director

    The exact changes:

    * Added more libraries for Xalan.

    ===============================

    Hi Chris,

It seems that the "File Open" button is now broken.  You can still double click on an existing Mind Map and it will open, although if you want to open it through the UI it doesn't work.

    Hi Chris,

I have the same problem. Fortunately I copied my file before converting. Because it was completely destroyed. Thanx God, I would have destroyed a half years work. :-( (Or am I mistaken and still may open the file with an older version?)

So thanx for the new version, which hopefully works properly for me. :-) Which version should I download, when I use Windows 7 Profesional 64bit? There are serveral downloads and I am insecure which to use.

Is the problem also fixed in the file you offer as FreeMind-Windows-Installer-0.9.0-max-java-installer-embedded.exe (28.5 MB)?

I also tried to find the previous version FreeMind 0.8.1, but I could not find the files. Could you publish the link, please? Just in case my problems should keep occurring.

Thank you in advance for your answer!
    Vita

I'm seeing this too.  In Mountain Lion, when trying to open the app in the usual way, there's an error saying "Freemind.app" is damaged and can't be opened.  You should move it to the trash.

I downloaded Beta 1 and it opens fine on Mountain Lion, but then you have to cope with the Xalan bug discussed earlier in this thread (in particular for me, mindmaps couldn't be opened after they're opened in another app, like iThoughtsHD via DropBox).

I can run Beta 5 by running the freemind.jar directly:

    1. Show Freemind.app in Finder.
    2. right-click on the app and choose Show Package Contents
    3. under the app contents, navigate to Contents/Resources/Java/lib/
    4. right-click on freemind.jar, choose Open.  Like any other app that is not signed using GateKeeper, Mountain Lion will say that the jar is from an unidentified developer, and ask whether you're sure you want to open it.  Choose "Open".

From that point on, you can just double-click on freemind.jar and it'll run without the warning.

Attempting to create a dock icon using Dock->Options->Keep in Dock doesn't work when running Freemind this way - that'll create a Dock Icon pointing to the java executable on your Mac.  Dragging the jar to the dock doesn't work either.

    Hi -

The build available for download is not executable / recognized as an OS X app.  It appears to be a Windows build.

Can a Mac binary be made available?  Note: I'm not talking about Mountain Lion - just 10.7
