Imagine you or your study nurses put hard effort into sorting and re-arranging DICOM files into a folder-structure on your harddrive so that the readers get their randomized and pseudonymized images needed for the study.

However, when importing all the DICOM images into a PACS or DICOM viewer, all hard work was in vain since PACS and DICOM viewers ignore naming and hierarchies of your folder structure. They only accept the structures provided in the DICOM headers of the medical images.

Directory hierarchies will be mapped to patient-, study- and series level.
